Translanguaging sebagai Strategi Inovatif dalam Pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris: Teori, Implementasi, dan Tantangan

Translanguaging merupakan pendekatan inovatif dalam pengajaran bahasa Inggris yang memungkinkan peserta didik menggunakan seluruh repertoar linguistik mereka secara fleksibel untuk meningkatkan pemahaman dan keterampilan berbahasa di negara Indonesia yang kaya akan keberagaman bahasa. Berbeda dengan pendekatan monolingual yang membatasi penggunaan bahasa pertama dalam pembelajaran, translanguaging memanfaatkan bahasa ibu sebagai alat berpikir, refleksi, dan komunikasi. Artikel ini membahas konsep, teori, dan implementasi translanguaging, membandingkannya dengan pendekatan pembelajaran bahasa lainnya, serta mengeksplorasi penerapannya dalam teknologi dan pembelajaran digital. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa translanguagingmeningkatkan pemahaman akademik, kepercayaan diri, dan keterlibatan siswa. Namun, penerapannya terkendala oleh sistem pendidikan yang cenderung monolingual. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan kebijakan pendidikan yang fleksibel, pelatihan guru, dan pengembangan sumber daya pembelajaran berbasis translanguaging untuk mengoptimalkan manfaatnya dalam pengajaran bahasa Inggris di Indonesia.
