Author Guidelines
The following requirements must be strictly met when submitting a manuscript to the Journal of Teaching and Education for Scholars (JOTES):
1. General Submission Rules

Submission Policy: Authors may only submit one article as the first author in a single volume. Additional submissions as a second or subsequent author are allowed within the same volume.

Platform: Manuscripts must be submitted exclusively through the Open Journal System (OJS) of JOTES. Submissions via email or WhatsApp will not be processed.

Originality: Articles must be written in English and must not have been published or be under consideration for publication elsewhere.

Focus and Scope: Submissions must align with the journal's scope, including teaching models, educational technology, learning strategies, and other related areas in education.
2. Formatting & Technical Requirements

Word Count: Manuscripts should range between 4,000 to 9,000 words (excluding references).

File Format: Must be submitted in MS Word (.doc or .docx) format.

Typography: The main text must be written in Times New Roman, 11 pt, with single spacing.
-
Reference Manager: Authors must use reference management tools (e.g., Mendeley, Zotero, EndNote) formatted strictly to the APA 7th Edition style.
3. Manuscript Structure (Research Articles) All submitted manuscripts must adhere to the provided JOTES Article Template and include the following elements:

Title: Times New Roman, 14 pt, Bold, "Capitalize Each Word" format. The title should be concise and not exceed 20 words.

Author Information: Full contributor names (without academic titles), complete affiliations (Department, Faculty, University, City, Country, email), Corresponding Author's email, and ORCID IDs (highly recommended).

Abstract: Ranging from 150 to 250 words in a single paragraph. It must seamlessly integrate: (1) Background and Objective, (2) Methodology, (3) Results, and (4) Conclusion and Implications. Do not use citations or subheadings in the abstract.

Keywords: Provide 5 to 7 keywords, arranged alphabetically and separated by semicolons. **Note for SLR: Must include "Systematic Literature Review" or "Meta-Analysis" as a keyword.

1. Introduction: Must clearly present the background, a concise literature survey, a clear gap analysis (to demonstrate novelty), and the research objectives/questions.

2. Methods: Must provide transparent details to ensure replicability.

Research Articles: Include Research Design, Setting and Participants, Data Collection, and Data Analysis.

SLR Articles: Follow PRISMA guidelines, including Eligibility Criteria, Search Strategy, Selection Process, and Data Extraction.

3. Results and Discussion: Can be separated or combined.
-
Results: Present clear findings supported by processed data.
-
Discussion: Interpret the findings, compare them with previous literature, and highlight scientific novelty and implications

Visuals: Tables/Figures must follow APA 7th Edition. No vertical lines in tables.

SLR Requirement: Must include a PRISMA Flow Diagram and a Summary Table of Included Studies.

4. Conclusion: Must provide definitive answers to the research questions written in comprehensive paragraphs (no bullet points). Must explicitly state research limitations and suggestions for future studies.
4. Mandatory Declarations

Funding: Declare any financial support or state "no funding was received".

Conflict of Interest: Disclose any competing interests.

Declaration of AI Use: Disclose the use of AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, QuillBot) for manuscript refinement.

Author Contributions: Clearly state the roles of each contributor using Author's initial name.

Acknowledgments (Optional): Briefly acknowledge funding agencies (with grant numbers) or technical supporters.
5. References and Biographies

References : Must strictly follow APA 7th Edition. At least 80% must be primary literature (reputable journals) from the last 5-10 years with active DOI links.

Author Biographies : A brief professional biography not exceeding 60 words per author (TNR 10 pt for content).
6. Publication Process

JOTES follows a continuous publication model, accepting submissions year-round.
-
Articles undergo a rigorous Double-Blind Peer Review process.
-
JOTES formally publishes two issues per year, in May and November.
For precise formatting instructions, authors are strictly required to download and apply the official JOTES Article Template before submission.
